Smile
She felt so much pain and she closed her eyes.
Her eyes lashed open, and she was in an unknown place. She looked down at her wrists and...nothing. No wound, no blood... nothing. What happened? Suddenly, she was blinded by a bright light and in that instance, her whole life flashed in front of her. Her childhood, her teenage years, her parents, school, friends, love, hate, pain, sorrows, anger. EVERYTHING.
She saw her life as though seeing a movie at the cinema. But, she felt the heavy emotions that followed every single slide of the life. and in every single slide, she saw something repetitive. She saw her..smile. Her extremely fake smile. The smile she wore to hide her true feelings. The laugh she portrayed to throw people off from questioning the scars on her hands.
And at that instant, she broke down and just let her emotions take over.
She cried at how stupid she had been.
She cried at not letting people in.
She cried for all the pain in her life.
She cried for all the shit she had dealt with.
She cried for smiling over the years.
She cried for laughing to cover up everything.
And, she just cried for herself.
After that, she stood up, wiping her tears, as the slide of her life still plays around her. "Please, please give me another chance!" "Please!" She screamed and choked back her tears as she felt them, brimming around her eyes. And, with that, she fell to the floor, choking...and she closed her eyes.
She got up, in the hospital bed as the white light surrounding her begins to fade.
SHE WAS ALIVE.
And she SMILED.
She really SMILED as a tear rolled down her cheek.
