Loneliness
Once when she was little
She was happy and carefree
She used to run around laughing
Until it was time for tea.
She used to play games
And smile all the time
She used to feel on top of the world
She used to feel fine.
It's amazing how things change
When people let her down
And how that once happy face
Turns into a solemn frown.
She searches and searches
For someone who cares
Anyone who understands
Anyone who dares.
Loneliness, it hurts
It kills her deep inside
It makes her feel empty
It stops her in her stride.
She cries herself to sleep
Hugging her pillow tight
Wishing for someone
To hold her through the night.
Once when she was little
She was happy and carefree
Now her life's full of sadness,
Pain and misery.
Once when she was little
She was never on her own
But now she prays at night
that she wishes she wasn't alone.
